The Online Program
Who can attend online courses?
Anyone who wants to improve their English can take our online courses – most commonly, students who are preparing to attend university in an English speaking country. We also serve people who want to improve their English skills for their jobs, for travel to an English-speaking country, or for achieving other personal goals.
Do you offer classes for beginner students?
We do not offer classes for beginner students.
How similar are online classes to in-person classes?
Our online classes are very similar to in-person classes because students study together at the same time through video conferences. Students have conversations with their classmates and teachers and do many activities just as they would in an in-person class. Students use a computer, or smartphone, with video turned on to interact during class.
When do classes meet?
Class times are based on U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST). Reading & Writing classes are 10:30 am to 12:30 PM EST and Communication Skills classes are 1:30 to 3:30 PM EST.
On what days are classes held?
Classes meet Monday through Friday.
How many hours of instruction are there?
Full-time students attend 20 hours of class per week. Part-time students attend 10 hours of class per week.
How many levels are there?
The online English program offers six levels. Each level consists of two modules.
How many courses should I take?
It depends on your need, time, and prior knowledge of English. If you want to make faster progress, we recommend you study full-time which includes two classes: Reading/Writing class and Communication Skills class.
Can I join at any time or is there a specific start date?
Students can only join at the beginning of a 5 week term. Please check Online Dates and Fees for specific dates and deadlines.
Will I receive a confirmation document or certificate if I complete a course?
Yes, each student will receive a certificate for each level they complete, as well as a certificate upon graduation.
What qualifications do INTERLINK teachers have?
INTERLINK courses are taught by professionally trained teachers with Master’s degrees in Teaching English as a Second Language or Applied Linguistics. Most of them have studied other languages, traveled, lived and/or attended classes abroad and are very familiar with the challenges which students face in new cultural environments.

Placement Testing
How do I know what level I should take?
All new students take a placement test. This test helps us to know about your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, which allows us to place you into appropriate proficiency levels. You can be in different levels for reading/writing and speaking/listening.
When is placement testing?
We offer two placement tests prior to each term. One date is two weeks before the term and the other is one week before the term starts. Read more on the Online Dates and Deadlines here.
What happens if something comes up and I miss my placement test?
If you miss the first testing date, you can sign up for the second testing date. If you miss both, you’ll need to wait until we offer testing for the next 5 week term.
