Student Health Insurance: Traveler’s insurance is not the same as health insurance. INTERLINK requires students and their dependents to have health insurance. Travel insurance is designed for people traveling to cover cancellations, personal belongings and only emergency medical treatment, whereas international health insurance is designed to cover inpatient treatment check-ups and continuing treatment of chronic conditions abroad.
Refund policy:
Students can receive a full tuition refund if it is requested before the start of classes. If requested during Week 1 of classes, students can receive a 50% refund. After Week 1, students are not entitled to a refund. Students requesting a refund will be required to fill out the Refund Form. Refunds for students who must withdraw because of illness or emergency will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
On-Campus Housing Deposit Policy:
Students who want to live in the on-campus dorms must pay a $100 non-refundable deposit and $75 refundable key deposit three weeks before the first day of orientation (the first class date). If the student does not pay this deposit, they will not be eligible for on-campus housing. On the return of the room key, the student will receive their $75 deposit. The student must email uncg@interlink.edu to confirm their arrival date and time. We can only move students into the on-campus room Monday – Friday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM.
Program Curriculum
INTERLINK offers a rigorous curriculum on the university campus that includes in- and out-of-class assignments, such as group discussion, interviews, library research, community involvement, writing projects, and presentations. Upon successful completion of the INTERLINK program, students demonstrate the following skills:
INTERLINK’s curriculum is rigorous. Its six levels, offered in 5-week sessions, involve in- and out-of class assignments in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and projects which require active student participation. Students enjoy full access to university facilities, including opportunities to meet students and professors, audit or take classes for credit. Of particular benefit to students is the representation of many cultures in the program. In a diverse environment, students learn more about the world, and in the process, about themselves. Upon graduation from INTERLINK’s program, students will receive a certificate which is accepted by UNCG for fulfilling English requirements. No additional test scores are needed.
Housing
While studying English on campus, students have several possible options for housing: students can live in a dormitory or apartment on campus, or opt for an off-campus apartment.
Dormitory
Living in a dorm provides great opportunities for learning English and meeting people. UNCG dorm rooms are very basic and include (two) beds, desks, chairs, closets or armoires, and chests of drawers. Each room also has a computer jack or wireless access and is air-conditioned. Prices for INTERLINK students currently range between $1265-$2200 per 5-week term, depending on the type of room available. Students who live on campus are required to purchase a campus meal plan, which costs $1100 per 5-week term. Payment for both the room and the meal plan is made directly to INTERLINK during the first week of class. Students interested in staying on campus should contact INTERLINK to find out whether space is available. A $100 deposit is required to reserve a space.
Cost: approximately $1,535 – $2,125 per 5-week term
To apply: Please contact uncg@interlink.edu to apply for residence halls
Apartment
INTERLINK provides information about apartments located near the UNCG campus; however, we are not involved with contracts, security deposits, or the furnishing of apartments. It is best for students to see apartments before signing a contract, so we recommend arriving at least one week before the beginning of classes to visit sites and to complete paperwork. Prices per month will vary depending on the type/size of the apartment and the number of roommates. The length of the contract ranges between six months and one year.
Cost: Fees vary.
